2025 report. Banking and Media audits for the Contentsquare Foundation.

01 — WHY NOW

Since June 2025, accessibility is no longer optional for most websites.

Since 28 June 2025, the European Accessibility Act (EAA) has made digital accessibility mandatory for most e-commerce websites and online services in the EU — not just the public sector. Only micro-enterprises (fewer than 10 employees and under €2 million in turnover) are exempt. Compliance is demonstrated against WCAG 2.2 level AA, through each country's own framework, such as the RGAA in France.

But beyond the legal requirement, an accessible website is above all a website more people can use from start to finish: a form you can fill in with a keyboard, a button a screen reader can announce, text you can read without squinting. Very often, those are also visitors who don't leave without buying.

02 — THE PROOF

A method proven on enterprise websites.

For the past two years, I've been auditing websites and apps for enterprise clients such as Michelin, Volkswagen, Generali, Hachette, FDJ and Crédit Agricole. It's the same method, and the same standard, that I apply to your website, at your scale.

For a concrete example at small-business scale, see the Sea Kayak Adventures website, made accessible during its redesign, or all accessibility projects. Who carries out the audits: my background.

Michelin
Renault
Volkswagen
Dassault Aviation
EDF
La Poste
Crédit Agricole
Generali
FDJ
VINCI
Hachette Heroes

03 — SERVICES

Four ways to work together, depending on where you are.

Audits against RGAA, WCAG 2.2, RAAM and RAWeb: non-conformities recorded criterion by criterion, an Excel report, and a debrief with a compliance roadmap.

01Full audit

A representative sample of your website, evaluated criterion by criterion. For each non-conformity, a precise technical recommendation, and a final compliance rate.

Deliverables

  • A complete Excel report: observations and recommendations
  • An accessibility statement, ready to publish on your website
  • A PowerPoint debrief with a roadmap to partial or full compliance, based on your priorities and budget
02Cross audit

An audit has already been carried out, in-house or by another provider? I run an independent counter-audit to validate its score and the stated compliance status, before you commit to fixes or publish your accessibility statement. It's a recognised practice for making audits reliable, cited by the French government's official digital accessibility website.

Deliverables

  • The Excel report, or the original audit document, updated with the counter-audit's observations
  • The updated accessibility statement
03Support

Once the audit is done, I stay alongside you while you get compliant: checks during and after the fixes, to make sure every non-conformity is resolved, and advice when you design new components, so they're accessible from the start rather than fixed after the fact.

04Flash Audit

A sample of representative pages from your website, evaluated criterion by criterion, with observations only. The assessment that tells you where you stand.

See the Flash Audit
04 — THE ROADMAP

What you get: a criterion-by-criterion roadmap.

Every audit ends with a step-by-step compliance plan: the criteria to fix first, and the compliance rate targeted at each step. Here's an example from a real audit.

Roadmap · example WCAG 2.2 · level AA

Criteria resolution

  1. 40% compliance

    Non-compliant

    Starting point

The compliance rate found at the audit.

  2. 70% compliance

    Partially compliant

    +30%

    12 criteria fixed

    • 1.4.1 Use of Color

    • 1.4.11 Non-text Contrast
    • 1.4.12 Text Spacing
    • 1.4.13 Content on Hover or Focus
    • 2.4.1 Bypass Blocks
    • and 6 more
  3. 100% compliance

    Fully compliant

    +30%

    11 criteria fixed

    • 1.1.1 Non-text Content
    • 1.2.2 Captions (Prerecorded)

    • 2.4.2 Page Titled
    • 2.4.3 Focus Order
    • 3.1.1 Language of Page
    • and 5 more
05 — STANDARDS

The standards I cover.

Covering all four means I can audit a French website, a Luxembourg website, a mobile app or an international website with the same rigour.

06 — THE FLASH AUDIT

Not ready for a full audit yet? The Flash Audit.

Want to know where your website stands before committing to a full audit? The Flash Audit is the right place to start.

I evaluate a sample of representative pages from your website and record the non-conformities, criterion by criterion. No technical recommendations at this stage: observations only, to give you a clear, reliable picture of the situation and decide on next steps with full knowledge of the facts.

Who it's for: businesses that want to know whether they're affected, and to what extent, before committing a compliance budget.

What you get

  • An Excel report of the observations, criterion by criterion
  • An accessibility statement

07 — HOW AN AUDIT WORKS

Clear from the first conversation to the final check.

  1. Scoping

Together we define the scope, the standard and the sample of pages to evaluate.

  2. Evaluation

I evaluate each page criterion by criterion, with manual testing.

  3. Delivery

You receive the deliverables planned for your audit and, for the full audit, a debrief with the roadmap.

  4. Follow-up

If you wish, I support you during and after the fixes.

08 — FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

What people ask me most often.

Is my business affected by the European Accessibility Act?

If you sell online or offer a digital service to the public in the European Union, very probably yes, since 28 June 2025. Only micro-enterprises (fewer than 10 employees and under €2 million in turnover) are exempt. An audit tells you exactly where you stand; if you'd like an overview first, the Flash Audit is the simplest starting point.

My business is based outside the EU. Does this apply to me?

The EAA applies to products and services offered to consumers in the EU, wherever the business is based. Outside the EU, most accessibility laws and policies also point to WCAG as their reference, so a WCAG 2.2 level AA audit is the common ground, whatever market you serve.

What's the difference between the full audit and the Flash Audit?

The full audit adds a technical recommendation for each non-conformity, then a debrief with a compliance roadmap. The Flash Audit sticks to observations, with no remediation plan: it's an assessment, delivered with an Excel report and an accessibility statement.

Isn't an automated audit tool enough?

Automated tools catch some of the issues, but not those that need human judgement: whether an alt text is relevant, whether a keyboard journey makes sense, whether an error message is clear. A reliable audit relies on manual testing.

How many pages are audited?

It depends on your website: the sample is defined with you during scoping, so that it represents your templates and key user journeys.
